Harry Bertoia became the director of the metal studio at Cranbrook in
1937. Bertoia's work can be classified in two ways, ranging from fully
realized and refined silverwork to irregular biomorphic forms. This
lidded vessel and creamer are two pieces of a three-piece service illustrating
Bertoia's biomorphic style.
