information Post War + Contemporary Art Wright's first auction of Post War + Contemporary
art will feature a broad array of works from one of art history's most
exciting and diverse periods. A surrealistic Joseph Cornell box featuring
the image of an iconic Medici figure ($150,000-200,000) will be offered
alongside a Damien Hirst spin piece with concentric circles in effulgent
colors ($12,000-15,000). A classic Josef Albers "Homage to the
Square" painting ($100,000-150,000) represents the American post-war
fascination with reductive abstraction and color theory, and several
Richard Pettibone paintings explore pop masterworks of the '60s as viewed
through the lens of Duchamp's earlier lesson of appropriation. Auction 21 November 2006 12:00
