Wright is constantly seeking new consignments for auction, Wright Now and private sale. We are happy to review any item you wish to consign. Below we have outlined the consignment process; it is really straightforward and simple.
Submit your images
The first step of the consignment process is to send us an image — simple shots in any format or of any quality will do — and provide us with any information you may have about the piece, its history and its condition. We will review each and every piece that passes through our inbox, responding to you within a matter of days. You may submit images by email to consign@wright20.com or by mail to Wright, 1440 West Hubbard Street, Chicago, IL 60642.
Our consignment team begins the free evaluation process by collectively reviewing the works. An expert from the department will contact you to discuss which venue — auction, Wright Now (our online gallery), or private sale — is most appropriate for your item. We will give you our appraisal of the market value and offer an auction estimate for the works. Whichever way we offer to sell your item, we will work closely with you to establish the final details and terms, considering your expectations as well as the current market.
Once all the details for your consignment are set, we will send you a contract. The contract, also known as the Consignor Agreement, will outline the agreed upon terms and include a complete list of your consigned items.
Shipping your property
Once an item has been accepted for consignment, arrangements for getting your property to Wright can begin; we will accept your items any time prior to the consignment deadline.
Shipping is the responsibility of the seller, however Wright will do all we can to assist in the process. We have a network of domestic and international shippers that are able to get your items to Wright both economically and safely. Upon the finalization of your contract terms, if needed, a Wright representative can contact a shipper to initiate shipping arrangements on your behalf.
We strive to make the entire shipping process as easy as possible; if any questions do come up, you will have a consignment representative to contact at anytime.
Marketing by Wright
Once your item has arrived at our location, we take over and give your item the Wright treatment: the best photography, cataloging and presentation in the industry. In the event that Wright feels your item may benefit by repair or touch up, we use our resources to get this done professionally and efficiently. Auction items are then presented in our award-winning catalogs and listed online in our auction preview and Wright Now items will post to our online direct sales website. Online treatment for all items includes multiple high-quality, zoom-able images along with academic detailed information about the work.
Wright has established a clientele that will be informed of the availability of your items for purchase. We ship catalogs, send email alerts and use third party sites, such as Live Auctioneers and 1st Dibs to bring further attention to your property. We do all of this because, like you, we want your items to sell.
Once your item sells, be it at auction, on Wright Now, or privately, you will be issued a statement reflecting your earnings. You may select your preferred payment method, check, direct transfer or bank wire and should expect payment approximately 35 business days after a sale has been made.
