Minna R. Harkavy was a sculptor, primarily of modernist figures that expressed her feelings of sympathy for the poor. Harkavy exhibited in major institutions: the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois; Whitney Museum of American Art and Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City; Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia; Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh; San Francisco Museum of Art; Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo and Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute, Utica, New York. Both lamps are signed in the casting.
