The Lighting Competition held by the Museum of Modern Art in 1951 has become a seminal moment in the history of American lighting design. From over 3000 entries, ten designs were chosen to be produced by the Heifetz Manufacturing Company. Lester Geis' entry received honorable mention in the competition and features two independent shades that pivot on a single steel tube armature.
