Ruth Asawa attended Black Mountain College where she studied under Josef Albers and Buckminster Fuller. It was during these years that she developed her evocative crocheted wire forms. Asawa's work can be found in the collection of several institutions including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. This sculpture was in the personal collection of Irwin and Estelle Laverne.
