Shiro Kuramata

Feather stool
Japan, 1990
acrylic, feather, aluminum
13 w × 16 d × 21 h in (33 × 41 × 53 cm)

This stool reflects Kuramata's poetics and interest in juxtaposing contrasting materials. The feathers appear delicately suspended within the massive acrylic ingot creating a perceptual weightlessness that contradicts the actual materiality of the stool.Literature:Shiro Kuramata 1934-1991, Hara Museum of Contemporary Art, pg. 196, no. 4

estimate: $25,000–35,000
result: $40,000
