molded birch plywood
23¼ w × 16½ d × 17¼ h in (59 × 42 × 44 cm)

Promoted by Allen Lane of Penguin Books, the Donkey bookcase was successfully received when first released on the market. Despite its reception, the onset of war forced production to cease, thus few early examples of this form exist. This example is from the first edition in molded plywood and was originally purchased from Liberty in London.
