Layers Exhibition, 2006
Since 1993, Hella Jongerius has been creating works that blend industry and craft; her oeuvre is composed of creative furniture forms, ceramics and textile designs that reintroduce the artist’s hand to technical processes. In 2006, Moss New York featured an exhibition of the Dutch artist’s work called Layers. For the exhibition, Jongerius created five one-off furniture forms, four Jackpot Vases, fifteen Quilted Vases, thirty-six Bonanza Jugs with bronze and one set of bronze jugs. Works from this exhibition are now part of various museum collections; the Indianapolis Museum of Art collection has one of the other fifteen Quilted vases.
