Though Maison Desny was only active from 1927-1933, the French design firm formed by Desnet and René Nauny was widely known for its innovative lighting, accessories and furniture featuring geometric shapes and pure surfaces. Modern in style and with a richness of materiality (from chrome-plated metal and glass to silver and exotic woods), Maison Desny’s works captured the attention of an elite audience. Desny worked with a number of renowned designers including Jean-Michel Frank, Alberto and Diego Giacometti and Robert Mallet-Stevens and in the early 1930s they received a number of important commissions. Today, Maison Desny is still celebrated for its functional and fashionable tabletop objects and lighting designs. The following collection exhibits the range and quality of Maison Desny’s work.
