Pelzel for S.A.L.I.R.

One of only two known examples, this flask-shaped vessel was designed by Franz Pelzel for S.A.L.I.R. in 1959. With its organic form, undulating lines and surreal, mannequin-like figures, this piece is perhaps the best example of Pelzel’s evolving modernist aesthetic. Illustrated in numerous texts and widely exhibited, this piece has become an icon of Italian mid-century design.
