The Tutsi of Rwanda produce the most delicate and intricate basketry objects in Africa. These three woven panels were part of a wall of woven screens that would have been installed behind a throne or another important room. The Tutsi avoided representative images in their basketry works relying instead on pulsating geometric designs that complement each other.
