Bringing Fine Dining to the Home Chef
In the early 1960s, hospitality management group Restaurant Associates began manufacturing accessories and tableware inspired by their many iconic New York eateries. Aimed at bringing a taste of culinary excellence to kitchens across America, the company produced themed collections of cookware, tableware, glassware and bar accessories that were both durable and elegant. Amateur gourmets everywhere could order casseroles inspired by The Brasserie, chafing dishes modeled after The Forum The Rayo glasses and Fiesta de Papel paper tableware offered here represent the collection inspired by La Fonda del Sol and feature the same colorful, punchy aesthetic found in the famed restaurant, designed and packaged for everyday use.of the Twelve Caesars and sangria pitchers inspired by Alexander Girard’s designs for La Fonda del Sol. Each purchase from Designs for R/A was accompanied by up to six chef-tested recipes adapted for the home cook including such favorites as Deviled Crab Meat from the Hawaiian Room, The Four Seasons’ Steak Tartare and Casserole of Turkey with Chestnuts and Pineapple from The Forum of the Twelve Caesars. Sets of glassware and bar accessories also came with recipes for drinks and desserts like Mezcal de Ron y Café, a cocktail with a kick, or Tea-Fruit Punch, a non-alcoholic treat for the kids.
