Claire Falkenstein at Roberts Art Gallery
Roberts Art Gallery at Santa Monica High School was founded in 1937 as a venue for students to experience professional artwork within familiar surroundings. It remains one of the oldest exhibition spaces in Santa Monica to this day and has hosted many established artists and designers since its inception over eighty years ago. In 1974, then director Nan Ohman invited artist Claire Falkenstein to participate in an exhibition at the gallery. Falkenstein accepted, and at the close of opening night, she presented Ohman with the present lot as a gift. Ohman continued to follow Falkenstein throughout her career and the two remained esteemed friends.
