In 2004, Marc Newson's Lockheed Lounge made an cameo appearance, in miniature, in the film Team America written by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Pam Brady of South Park fame. Several modern and contemporary designs are included in a racy bedroom scene; alongside the Lockheed Lounge there is an Eames Time Life stool and a Philippe Starck juicer masquerading as a lamp.
The present lot is one of two examples of Newson's design in miniature created by David Rockwell for the film.
