Freedom of Form
Reef Bench Maquettes by Tejo Remy and René Veenhuizen
Design duo Tejo Remy and René Veenhuizen credit their experimentation with spatial models and maquettes such as the present lot with creating these rolling, dune-like benches without the use of a computer. Veenhuizen describes their model-making process as keeping a “freedom of form” allowing them to build organic, free-flowing designs that are also structurally sound. The realized Reef benches were installed on the roof top of the Picasso Lyceum secondary school in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands.
