With my work there is a musical aspect and a literary aspect. The musical aspect is like when you are just listening to music, it makes you feel a certain way. The literary experience is longer and more drawn out, like a novel that’s constructed in the author’s consciousness. There are characters here and there, they interact and then 400 pages later they interact again, or you see the effects of one character’s actions much later on. Music, on the other hand, happens in your unconscious, in the moment. You are not really thinking about it.
