Among the celebrated watchmakers of our era, Richard Habring is, simply put, a genius. Having started out at IWC, Richard was given the unenviable task of making a split-second chronograph movement for the Schaffhausen manufacture. It took him just under two years to do so and the IWC ‘Doppelchrono’ was born.
Richard and Maria Habring personally run Habring², Austria’s first modern watch brand and an independent one at that. They are making some of the finest watches in the world in an affordable manner, bringing ingenuity and passion to enthusiasts around the globe. It is hard to think of another brand that brings more value to the table than Habring²; the mix of complications and expert finishing is unparalleled. The Habrings don’t have any celebrity endorsements, they don’t have a big marketing budget and certainly are not as famous as some competitors at their price points, yet they bring award-winning watches of the highest order to the market. Habring² has won four awards at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève, the “academy awards of watchmaking”, and they have been nominated many more times. The husband-and-wife duo have long been at the forefront of complicated watches as a value proposition and we do not see that changing any time soon.
