Aranda/Lasch

Modern Primitives at the 12th International Architectural Biennale

Benjamin Aranda and Christopher Lasch established their New York based architectural studio Aranda/Lasch in 2003. For the past decade, the duo has created innovative structures, installations and objects that have achieved international acclaim. With works exploring pattern and sequence found in natural phenomena such as crystals and prisms, Aranda/Lasch's production is comprised of highly configured forms that are expertly crafted by hand.

The Modern Primitives chair illustrates both the technical complexity and handcrafted elegance of Aranda/Lasch's designs. Created for the 12th International Architectural Biennale, Venice in 2010, this work is one of only four examples produced.
