This design was created as part of the Redesign of the Modern Movement series in which Mendini altered iconic modernist forms by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Gio Ponti and Michel Thonet among others. This version is from a small series produced for Studio Alchimia's Oggetti Senza Tempo collection in 1983.
