In 1987 while working in Sottsass’ studio, I was invited to submit a few sketches of lamps for the last Memphis show in Milan. I went to the Jazz club, Tangram, and while listening to jazz and enjoying a large bottle of Chimay I drew several sketches.

I presented them to Ettore and he liked them and asked to study them in more detail. He presented them to Barbara, she loved (and approved) two designs; Sbarro and Elastico. The prototypes for these two designs were included in Luci-Lights Memphis Milano, Jun 22 – July 16 1988.
