Signed, dated and numbered to lower right ‘87/200 Jamie Reid 97’. This work is number 87 from the edition of 200 printed by Ambassador, New York and published by Artificial Gallery, New York. Sold with a certificate of authenticity from Artificial.

Artist and anarchist Jamie Reid designed the cover for the Sex Pistols' infamous 1977 album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols, as well as accompanying press material and the “God Save the Queen” single cover. His ransom note-style collage, use of safety pins and defamation of English icons came to define the punk aesthetic of the late 1970s. In 2001, it was named the greatest record cover of all time by Q magazine. The present lot is from the original limited edition produced to accompany the record release, which also coincided with the Queen’s Silver Jubilee.
