Opened in 2000, New York City’s Hudson hotel—The Hudson—was a celebrated boutique hotel on West 58th Street featuring design by Philippe Starck and Ian Schrager. Originally completed in 1929 for use by the American Women’s Association, the building was purchased by Morgans Hotel Group in 1997, when it underwent an extensive renovation. Upon opening, the New York Daily News reported, “It’s been open for five short days, but already the Hudson is turning into a playground for the fashionable and famous...an unlikely location for a hotspot has seduced the city’s tastemakers with its imaginative decor, multiple bars and leafy outdoor dining areas.”
