A Custom Chandelier

For the Washburn Residence

The present lot illustrated in situ above the dining table at the Washburn Residence, St. Michaels, Maryland.

This chandelier was selected by noted Maryland architect, Chloethiel Woodard Smith to be installed above the dining room table of the Washburn Residence in St. Michaels, Maryland. Produced by Edison Price, the chandelier was custom ordered by Woodard Smith through Marie Nichols, a textile designer best known for her shimmering curtains at the Four Seasons restaurant in New York. Nichols collaborated with the lighting designer Richard Kelly on numerous notable projects and this design is similar in form and construction to a 1955 chandelier Kelly designed for the Barbizon-Plaza Hotel in New York.
