In 1970, Eric Clapton switched from Gibson guitars to Fender Stratocasters. His favorite guitar, a Black Stratocaster similar to the example offered here, was nicknamed “Blackie”. From 1974-1985, Clapton played it almost exclusively on stage and in the studio, featuring it on the recordings for Cocaine, I Shot the Sheriff and Wonderful Tonight
