John Lennon famously played a Rickenbacker 325 during the early years of the Beatles. After damaging his custom guitar during a performance in 1964, distributor Rose-Morris sent him a replacement that was almost identical, finished in black and missing the f-hole. Rose-Morris billed their updated design The Beatle Backer and a favorite of the late musician.
