Wright Auction

This impossibly rare, original 1980 Heathen Earth poster was given to me by Genesis P-Orridge circa 1998, when Gen and I were cleaning up in the basement of Gen and Jackie's house on Gates Ave in Brooklyn after some minor flooding. It was later signed by all four members of the band at the Ricardo Montalbán Theatre in Hollywood when Throbbing Gristle played there in 2009. Xeni Jardin and I interviewed the group for bOING bOING TV and then, because we had so many cameras, we ended up shooting the show, too. I've been a massive TG fan since I was a teenager, so to get to operate a camera directly behind Cosey and Genesis was quite an experience. What was really interesting was how perfectly quiet it was behind the speakers. TG played LOUD. PAINFULLY LOUD. One friend of mine in the audience told me he had to go to the lobby because he felt like he was going to vomit, but onstage, Gen and Cosey could whisper to each other, and four feet away, I could even hear what they were saying. It was weird; inside of this violent maelstrom of sound the musician/magicans who were creating it were cloaked in a bubble of calm!

Known for his deep dives into conspiracy theories, the occult, radical politics, and general weirdness, Metzger is also the author of multiple books, including Book of Lies: The Disinformation Guide to Magick and the Occult.
