On June 12th, Missives from the Edge: Art & Zines of Raymond Pettibon offers an extraordinary collection of works from the inimitable Raymond Pettibon, whose singular style exploded into existence alongside the Southern California punk scene of the 1970s and early 1980s. Painstakingly gathered by a single private owner, this offering comprises nearly the complete catalogue of every zine Pettibon ever made, from the early Captive Chains (1978) and multiple issues of Tripping Corpse to later works such as As Always and So On and Over Easy, as well as the compendium Selected Works from 1982 to 2011.

Filled with Pettibon’s signature ink drawings, cryptic texts, and cultural collisions, these raw, incisive works chart the evolution of an artist who reshaped the visual language of underground publishing and contemporary art alike.
