Design Masterworks opens in New York on November 3rd. This exceptional exhibition and sale features more than 20 lots of important and rare works by seminal artists, designers and architects of the 20th century. A magnificent Conoid room divider with “asa-no-ha” doors by George Nakashima, a light fixture handmade by Alexander Calder, an impressive urn by Frank Lloyd Wright and a rare Nocturne radio with original mirrored-glass by Walter Dorwin Teague are among the sale’s many masterpieces. Significant works from France and Italy are also included in this remarkable auction and include a stunning freeform table by Charlotte Perriand, a pair of important cabinets by Jean Prouvé and a rare sofa designed by Gio Ponti for the architect’s gesamtkunstwerk, Palazzo Liviano.
The select exhibition will be on view in New York for two weeks with the auction occurring in Chicago on November 19th.
